Joyride 2024 – Cruising Through Philippians

May 2024 – Lansing, MI – The Kingdom Rock Kids Choir presented a scripture memory musical entitled, “Joy Ride”. This musical cruises through the book of Philippians and was created by Christy Semsen and arranged by Daniel Semsen and Nathaniel Semsen.

As the Semsens describe it, this musical, “follows Mr. Phil and his campers as they hit the beach, catch some waves, soak in the sun, and sing trendy songs straight from scripture! It is filled with quirky, fun characters, a sunny So-Cal beach theme, and catchy, upbeat songs, but ultimately the heart and soul of this children’s ministry resource is to teach kids the word of God through music. What will they learn? Serving others, the importance of prayer, that joy isn’t the same as happiness, trusting God no matter what happens, and how we can do all things through Christ.”

Each rehearsal consisted of preparations for the musical presentation and a devotional thematically tied to the musical. The musical was directed by Carol Felgenhour, Aline Srouji, and Erin Liell and assisted by Nancy Bassett. Script contributions were written by Carol Felgenhour and Valerie Mulford. Corb Felgenhour was the Executive Producer. There were multiple child soloists and dance groups. The Kingdom Rock Choir has 50 plus students ranging from 3rd to 6th grade.
