“Pilgrim” Presented to Many


December 2023 – On the first few days of December, South Church in Lansing, Michigan, embarked upon a journey to present the dramatic musical, “Pilgrim”. There were four showings with a cast of 50. This show brought together talented volunteers from South Church with over 150 in its cast, set builders and crew, AV technicians and production staff. Multiple small group bible studies were formed to study the book, “The Pilgrim’s Progress” by John Bunyan, in the months leading up to the performances.
This musical was written by Janice Landry and Cathy Mays. Music and lyrics were by Bob Kauflin, Janice Landry, Zach Jones, Mark Altrogge and others. Susan Perdue orchestrated much of the production with additional orchestrations by David Pierce and Corb Felgenhour. Dan Rainsberger played the main leading role of Christian while seeking The King, played by Corb Felgenhour.
The Narrator was played by Veronica Hetke and Faithful was played by Bethany Thelen. Hopeful was played by Brad Garnaat and the Evangelist was played by Nico Berroa. Senior Pastor, Don Denyes played the role of the wise Interpreter.

The original intent for this production was to present it in April of 2020 under the direction of Katheryn Mulchay but with COVID all plans were put on hold until 2023. The cast was revamped and the set was redesigned for the 2023 showing. This production was directed by Lisa Conine. Assistant director was Callie Risch. Set was designed by Corb Felgenhour and engineered by Tim Morris, Rob Beckon, and Helen Flower. Choreography was created by Jessica Doer. Props Master was Veronica Hetke. Makeup was by Mandie Aikins. The pit orchestra was conducted by Dr. David Pierce. Corb Felgenhour was the Executive Producer.
